Frequently Asked Questions
Many people have questions before starting or returning to therapy. Here are some common ones that might help you get a clearer sense of how I work and what to expect.
What can I expect in my first session?
In your first session, you can expect to be warmly welcomed to a supportive space where we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, and what you’d like to work toward. We’ll begin exploring your goals together and discuss how we can move forward in a way that feels comfortable, collaborative, and tailored to you.
Do you offer in-person or online sessions?
Both. I see clients face-to-face in Brookvale and online across Australia. Online sessions are conducted via secure video and are a convenient option for those who prefer to connect from home or work.
How long are sessions?
Standard sessions run for 50 minutes.
Do I need a referral?
No – you don’t need a referral to meet with me. You’ll receive the same professional service, care, and session structure with or without a referral.
If you have a valid GP referral / Mental Health Treatment Plan, you may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate. Without a referral, you may still be able to claim a rebate through your private health insurance (if you have appropriate cover).
How do I organise a Mental Health Treatment Plan?
You can book an appointment with your GP to discuss your mental health and your GP can provide you with a Mental Health Treatment Plan.
Once completed, bring it along to your first session (or email it beforehand) and I’ll take care of the rebate processing for you.
Do I need to book my appointments in advance?
Yes – services are offered by pre-booked appointment only, with no drop-in services available.
How get in touch to book or ask a question?
Due to the nature of my work, I’m often in meetings and may be unable to answer calls immediately.
You are welcome to leave a voicemail, or even better, send a text or email, and I’ll get back to you to arrange a convenient time for us to talk.
I invite new clients to get in touch. Even if I can’t take your call right away, I’m happy to arrange a brief, no-charge introductory phone call. During this call, we can work out if we are a good fit, with no obligation to book.
What are your fees?
Fees are $285 per session. Consult fees can change over time, so please reach out if you’d like to check the most up-to-date pricing—I’m happy to provide the details.
Payments can be made by cash or card, and rebates can be processed via HiCaps at the time of your consult.
Can I use my private health insurance?
Yes. Many private health funds offer rebates for psychology sessions. It all depends on your current level of cover. You can contact your provider to confirm eligibility. Please note private health rebates can be processed via HiCaps at the time of your consult.
Is parking available?
Yes. There are 45 free visitor parking spaces in the Lifestyle Working Building’s underground car park, including accessible options.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Please provide advance notice when cancelling. Cancellations within 48 hours of your scheduled consult are subject to a fee. To help avoid this, email and SMS reminders are sent ahead of your appointment.
I’ve been to therapy before — can I come back after a break?
Absolutely. Many people return to therapy at different stages of life. Whether you’re continuing your treatment from before or starting fresh, you’re welcome to reconnect whenever you’re ready.
